Dave started his dog training career instructing at dog schools in York. It was his lifelong love of dogs and a growing concern that large classes and little knowledge of the behaviour and emotions of dogs that led Dave to train as a Pet Therapist. He began to research dog behaviour and the causes and cures and in the course of doing this he attended numerous courses and seminars all over the country. In 1999 he started York’s first growl class specifically for dogs who were showing aggression to people and other dogs. In 2000 he started his own training and therapy centre, not only to help dogs with problems but more importantly to work on prevention. Dave is a kennel club Judge and successfully competes with his own dogs in Working Trials and has previously competed in Obedience. He has more recently become a member of both MBIPTD & Nasdu

 

Andy currently trains & works his dog Frankie in the sport of Working Trials. He runs all of our training classes and offers 121 sessions.  He has trained very closely with Dave  for the last five years in which time he has gained a great insight in to how dogs think and work.

We believe that dog training should be both motivational & fun for dog and owner.  We aim to teach you the handler how to gain a sound level of obedience and focus in your dog.  We do this through a combination of established methods of dog training and an understanding of motivations.  We will help you achieve a better understanding of your dog, of what they do and why they do it.  We will also help you achieve a better relationship with your dog through understanding their actual wants and needs.  We like to train our dogs in a reward based manner but with the understanding from the dog that once they have been soundly taught an exercise it means just that. So Sit means Sit.

 

We have

• 12 acres of grassland,
•  undercover secure training area,
• clubhouse facility for a cup of tea whilst having a break.

   

Our classes are designed to be fun, motivational and exciting aimed at giving you the owner and your dog a real sense of achievement

 

Please note that group classes are only suitable for dogs that are sociable with other dogs and people.  If your dog is aggressive in any situation, or you are unsure of how they will behave in close proximity to other dogs & people we will work with you on a one to one basis prior to you joining a class, please contact us for further details.
